Why do you think there were prostest by the entire nation in the first place ?
Spoiler : Because people who used violence PUSHED the power to it's limits and pushed it to make bad descisions. Descision that would have NEVER happened by protesting peacefully with smily faces.
It's because people take risks that some protest succeed !
Some, maybe yes. But not those who really mattered.
Be sure of one things : You don't get rid of an oppressive gov simply through peacefull protests and you don't get the population's support simply by doing nothing more that wave some flags !
You get that by pushing the power to make mistakes.

Yeah. Protestor peacefull at first but with non peacefull action and methods. I'm not talking here necessarily about riots, I'm talking about a violent approach, a step beyond simple protests, a pressure on the Forces supposed to maintain order..
Of course some were killed by nothing nothing and that why pushing the gov to make a mistake is important. Because this is the violence that came after that really mattered, and raised the awareness. The conflict escalated and pushed people to be even more radical while creating a situation of support from the population.
Again, you can't simply get change with peace.

I think you are confusing the action of rioting and the action of burning simple small businesses and car.
Rioting is a method of action with those behavior ON THE SIDE. The purpose is to push the forces of power back. To their limits. The purpose is to scare them and gain back the agentivity.
This is something that you will pretty much never be able to do peacefully unless there is an instant movement of process that can scare the power.
Big oppressions requires biggers and stronger movements. It means different method, from general strikes to violent protest.
What you are afraid of are the artefact left from those protest in cases where bad apples are using the movements to spread chaos, either by interest or by whim.
