Socialism is the belief in a society where the workers control the means of production. Even if they don't control it, you are still socialistic if you think workers need more power and/or capitalism needs to be nerfed.
True communism is a society that is stateless, moneyless, and classes. The communist manifesto of 1848 was a product of the insanely dystopian capitalism of that time(no regulated work days, hours, benefits, age etc.). Dudes like Lennin tried achieving true communism via revolt and a dictatorship, turning the nation into a communist one overtime. Joseph Stalin happened and it became a communist state with a dictator. There's like...8 different versions of communism now.
