Luffy used a named attack 《 Red hawk 》 ( gear 2 + hardening + fire element ) to punch Holdem 《 special Gifter 》 in chapter 917 but he appeared again in chapter 922 so 5 chapters that Gifter appeared fine despite using a named attack and that's an enraged Luffy whereas Zoro without CoA and no named attack and while restraining himself to conserve his power to fight Kaido he cut a gifter and he appeared after 10 chapters .

▪An enraged luffy + named attack + gear 2 + hardening >>> the Gifter appeared 5 chapters later

Oden would have eventually killed Kaido, nobody denies that, but their fight was closer than you make it out to be.
