Marco thinks back to his days with Shirohige Pirates in a new flashback. Ace asks Shirohige to attack Kaidou since he has a promise to fulfilled. Izou and Marco explain that they only knew about Oden's death years after it happened. After that, they talked about attacking Wanokuni many times but stopped since they know what will happen if they attack Kaidou, there will be many sacrifices.

Ace asks Shirohige to let him go alone. Shirohige is angry saying Ace is ahead of himself thinking that he can defeat a man Oden can't win against. Then Shirohige beats Ace up.

It is TRULY unforgivable, in both a narrative and literary sense, to heap so much glory and adoration on a group of characters WHO KNEW THEIR FRIENDS WERE IN TROUBLE AND DID NOTHING TO HELP THEM. Whitebeard inflicted more damage on his “son” than he did on Kaido for ruining Oden’s homeland. Pure, unadulterated garbage Oda’s serving up now, this is a fuckin’ embarrassment

Oden clearly was not even on first name when W died in pre timeskip . Its clear oda never had oden's character created back then.

Obviously casualties are what matters the most if it was danger free WB would have avenge Oden assap. But WB didn't take such risks for someone dead, he would risk all his sons lives for a memory. But he will gladly do that if Oden was alive. He can risk it all to save someone not to avenge someone

Did you not read the summary this chapter? He says the same exact thing here. When Ace is stronger, they would eventually go fight Kaido.

Thats the point. In Whitebeards eyes, it was too early for Ace on both occasions. The first time it saved Ace's life (Kaido). The 2nd time, Ace didn't listen and he died (Blackbeard).

Yeah, the issue here is that Ace was a member of the Whitebeard Pirates for like a year and Oden spent more than two decades doing literally nothing of what he wanted to do in Wano nor making any contact with his old crew even though they were explicitly expecting him to return and tell them his new stories. This whole issue about Whitebeard and company doing nothing is literally older than Ace, and they pretty much not only didn't try to avenge Oden but didn't try to rescue Toki, Momonosuke, Kiku, Kin'emon... (they couldn't know they time travelled, those who did it) nor help Wano (Ace was so obsessed with coming back and helping Tama yet Izou didn't try anything for his people?).

Replace "die" with actually starting a world ending war over Ace. I might have exaggerated slightly but the same concept applies. Whitebeard was protecting Ace against Kaido and Blackbeard. But once Ace was captured they weren't going to leave him to die.

About to die was in regards to Ace.
The fact that WB proactively took in Ace has been made clear, that much i agree with.
But he never made a decision in regards to the safety of the crew coming from a place of overprioritizing Ace, at least that´s not how i see it.
He was someone who cared about every life of his family that he built in his pirate life, Ace was a son but also someone who might fulfill Roger´s will, but that was just an addition, not the central thing about his relationship with Ace, but we seem to have interpreted the flashback scenes differently.
