The story points to Zoro going back to Kaido. The only way for Zoro vs King to make sense is to have Marco get defeated (so Zoro fights a weakened King), or for Marco to randomly hand off King to Zoro, and for Zoro to fight King instead of the one guy he wants to kill on the island. Neither...
