Character Discussion Do You like Eustass Kid as a character?

He's objectively one of the worst characters in the series. He has no backstory and no motivation as to why he wants the One Piece. He was introduced as this big threat with a higher bounty than Luffy but it was only because he kills civilians. Lame. He talks tough but it's a joke considering his track record. He has one of the coolest powers in fiction yet aside from Punk Rotten, all he makes is giant metal hands. That metal bull he made against Big Mom was laughably bad. Give Franky his fruit and he'd be a legit top tier with his imagination. Him getting passed around like a Yonko prostitute getting his ass whopped from Shanks, Kaido and Big Mom is sad. He's just a filler "rival" until Luffy is ready for Blackbeard. Killer is more enjoyable honestly.
I don’t think Oda knows what he’s doing with him.
Kid was set up as a rival of Luffy’s. So logically, you’d think he’d get major focus in the new world. But he never really got that, with Oda instead focusing on Law.
Kid is the type of character who, in any other manga, would be extremely popular. But Oda just didn’t do anything with him and made him fight big mom all of a sudden after 10 years.

Like I don’t get why Oda didn’t develop Kid in WCI. Dressrosa was Law’s arc, so Kid should have gotten more focus in WCI. This makes sense because it would have set up Kid vs Big Mom.
Oda didn’t even need to put Kid in the arc, he just needed to hype him up. Like imagine if, instead of Smoothie being a useless character, Oda just revealed that Kid murdered Smoothie during WCI. And we got a short flashback of it during the cracker or katakuri fight.

Overall Kid, a major supernova and one of the guys who beat big mom, should have been a HUGE part of the vs yonko saga.
It just doesn’t make sense for him not to be given what Oda did with his character. But Loda rather focus on the scabbards.

Kid feels like a character where he and Law were designed to be a single character. (Straight up Kids personality in Sabaody allied more with Laws backstory than Laws did)
But because oda was told to make Sabaody more exciting he made Kid and Law separate characters and just didn’t redesign Kids backstory to make him a character and since then he’s just felt empty.
