‘Democratic socialist’ policies made the poor poorer: Study | Acton Institute
Welfare State Causes Wealth Inequality—Euro Experience | Cato at Liberty Blog

You can find the study inside those articles.

There are regulations in those cases. You can't make a child work for hours and its never against their will, its very reglementated but wait...

Are you defending child labor here ?
I'm totally not against it. I don't see any problem having children working. And just gave you examples of children working that people don't find it crazy. And then you even brag it about being regulate but then why not regulate other kinds of works too and let those children help their poor family instead of condeem them to starvation death by not working at all?

What communists are you talking about ?

People from China and north corea who call themself "communist" (but are not) or far left party in western countries ?
The soviets.

Hm.. no. Not even close.
Yes they are.

Appropriation! When Art Inspires Other Art | Artland Magazine

Good artists copy, great artists steal (creativethinkinghub.com)

Not even close either.
You are wrong as always

AI Art is Real Art and Not Stolen | David Boles, Blogs (bolesblogs.com)

We can tell that its AI because we can tell who the AI has stolen from. Yeah.
If you can differ the AI from "original" then it is not a copy but something new.

That's not how inspiration work. AI is not "inspired". There is no processus of inspiration, its a process of copy.

When an artist is inspired, they don't copy, they use what they learn with their own style to create something new. AI is incapable of doing that.
You don't even understand AI to say something like that.

Humanity improvement is not technological, its human.

If you live in a technological world but you stay a bad person, there is no improvement.
There is no much human improvement to be done. We already started walking on 2 instead of 4. Got smarter. Learned to make fire and tools. What else you want human to improve.

Fuck being a bad person or not. I'm worried about the people who are starving and malnourished.

Ai when used in war.. will not show any kind of humanity.. which means that conflict might actually get worse, and not better.
Except that there is always a human commanding AI. If the human says fuck humanity than yes it is true just like Hamas is doing with Israelis. But if they the human say becareful with humanity and lower the civilians deaths than it will do a good job just like Israel is doing at Gaza to vanish that terrorist group.

Oh but you are mistaken my dear. I don't want to stop technological or human progress. I want to stop people like you.
People like me wants a better life to everyone else. Good thing you expose what you really want.

I'd be tempted to respond with something like "I don't eat this shit anyways" but then I remembered that American society has been engineered and exploited to the point most people can't even buy real food anymore. This country has reached a level of depravity where a "food desert" is not infertile land where nothing grows but a place so far away from the only places that sell anything to eat(still toxic unhealthy shit). It's terrible what this country's people have become but I can't say that the country I live in is not heading towards the same direction.

Isn't the widely accepted definition of food deserts, these days, any area or community where the population has less access to fresh, nutritional food? In such areas, the nearest grocery store or supermarket is often at least a couple of miles away, if not further.

As a result of this, locals living in these communities tend to rely more on packaged, processed produce and/or restaurants. Processed foods, such as canned vegetables and tuna, typically have lower nutritional value and often contain additives to enhance preservation.

Are these preservatives healthy? Not really.

Thankfully these preseved foods are safe to consume and nowadays, somewhat cheaper than buying fresh produce. The convenice of access to these foods have the added effect of the population in these food deserts relying on them as well.

In the US people can choose to have healthier real food, but they typically choose not to. We are bombarded by unhealthy food ads everywhere. Commercials, billboards, they mail coupons and ads. It's endlessly shoved into people's faces. While real food isn't advertised.

Other countries do advertising campaigns to encourage people to eat certain types of food. The US government would never do that and even if they did, crazy alt right conspiracy theorists would accuse them of trying to brainwash them.

Aren't fast food ads/commercials a sort of campaign themselves that encourage people to eat "certain types of foods"?

You got the fries, burger, specialty items, advertised as a great deal at a certain price, encouraging people to consider the more convenient option...

because convenience is really tempting when the price is also cheap!

Not so much anymore with these damn rising food costs via inflation (having to pay $15 for a large burger and a fries combo eventually do take a toll on those bank accounts).

We have healthy campaigns that are put put by the USDA & Govt provided insurance Medicaid/Medicare and other small organizations but they don't have nearly the budget that Mcdonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, Wendys, Sonic, Whataburger etc. do

I've never seen any type of USDA ad campaign ever.

They do have the occasional television ad but they often have them in the health units, obstetricians offices, pediatric centers, and public family services. They also do local area ads across the country to promote farmer markets.

I meant more like a nationwide campaign to encourage people to eat more chicken or veggies. Other countries do that.

I think this video really brings home everything I have been talking about, especially with inner cities. They have voted for the same people for decades, hoping for something different and all they have received in return is more destruction to their neighborhoods. I want all the children here in the US (The world too, but everything starts wherever your home is) to have safe neighborhoods and educations. Not corrupt politicians stealing those funds that were meant to help them.

The definition of a campaign encompasses a series of activities, actions, or efforts that are strategically directed towards achieving a specific goal or objective.

In this case, the objective of these fast food advertisements is to well...sell fast food products to customers.

When this definition is applied to the realm of fast-food advertising, the primary objective of these fast-food companies becomes clear: these campaigns are designed to promote their products to consumers. To achieve this, fast food companies deploy a strategic mix of marketing techniques. Some of these include (but are not limited to):
  1. TV Commercials/Youtube Advertisements: These are often crafted with bright colors, engaging designs, and optimistic messages to grab viewers' attention immediately. The visual and emotional appeal of these commercials adds a powerful effect, making the food seem even more enticing.
  2. Social Media Marketing: Existing platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook allow fast food companies to create content that can go viral, reaching a vast audience. They also engage with consumers directly, fostering a sense of community and brand loyalty.
  3. Limited-Time Offers and Promotions: To create a sense of urgency and exclusivity, these are intended to encourage consumers to visit their outlets or order online. They are usually advertised around upcoming holidays, major events, or even new product launches.
  4. Sales and Product Deals: Fast food companies sometimes advertise sales promotions and value menus as a way to attract more customers & to increase sales volume, from discounted meal combos as well as combos presented in larger quantities for entire families.
Fast food advertisements employ the methods listed above to communicate to the public that, in a world where time is scarce and people are busier than ever before, the option to purchase a quick meal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner offers significant convenience.

Because who has the time to make home-cooked meals from scratch these days?

Might as well post the article itself since it's not a wall of text this time and it's worth spending a couple minutes reading.

Whole Foods co-founder and CEO John Mackey lamented that "socialists are taking over" nationwide and warned that the initiative is "just continuing" during Thursday's episode of a podcast with Reason Magazine.

"My concern is that I feel like socialists are taking over," Mackey told the magazine's editor-in-chief Nick Gillespie. "They're marching through the institutions. They're…taking over education. It looks like they've taken over a lot of the corporations. It looks like they've taken over the military. And it's just continuing."

"You know, I'm a capitalist at heart, and I believe in liberty and capitalism. Those are my twin values. And I feel like, you know, with the way freedom of speech is today, the movement on gun control, a lot of the liberties that I've taken for granted most of my life, I think, are under threat," he continued.

Mackey, who is stepping down as CEO at the end of August, has remained a vocal critic of socialism throughout the years.

During a November 2020 discussion organized by the American Enterprise Institute, Mackey proclaimed, "Socialism has been tried 42 times in the last 100 years, and 42 failures. It doesn't work. It's the wrong way. We have to keep capitalism. I would argue we need conscious capitalism." He then branded socialism as "trickle-up poverty" and said, "it just impoverishes everything."

On Thursday, Mackey also criticized the uptick in government unemployment benefits offered amid the pandemic, which he alleged made it difficult to hire more staff members at Whole Foods. He proceeded to make jabs at the nation's "younger generation," stating that they "don't seem to want to work" and echoing Kim Kardashian's advice for women in business.

"They only wanna work if it's really purposeful, and [something] they feel aligned to," Mackey said. "You can't hope to start with meaningful work. You're gonna have to earn it over time. Some of the younger generation doesn't seem to be willing to pay that price, and I don't know why."

Like clockwork, Mackey's statements spurred controversy across social media. On Twitter, many opposed his sentiments while others challenged his political takes.

"How ironic that I would love to live in the world apparently imagined to exist by so many leading capitalists," wrote Jacobin staff writer Luke Savage.

One user tweeted, "If the ridiculous prices aren't enough to keep you from shopping at Whole Foods, recent comments from the CEO, John Mackey, should be. He is 'deeply concerned' that 'socialists are taking over' the country. He clearly doesn't understand socialism so he should shut up."

"Damnit, just when I settle on a go-to grocery store that I can bike to easily for things we consume, some asshole, capitalism-drunk, CEO opens his mouth about issues that matter to me," said another Mackey critic. "I shouldn't be surprised, honestly..."

Mackey also made it clear during his podcast appearance that he'll be sharing more hot takes in the future, after he retires from his current position.

"Pretty soon, you're gonna hear about 'Crazy John' who's no longer muzzled," he said, laughing. "I've got six weeks. I can talk more about politics in six weeks than I can today."

Google CEO Sundar Pichai addressed the controversy around its Gemini AI service generating misleading and historically inaccurate images Tuesday, in an internal note saying the issue was “completely unacceptable,” a week after the company paused its ability to generate images of people.

In an internal note first reported by Semafor, Pichai wrote he was aware that some of Gemini’s responses “have offended our users and shown bias” and added: “To be clear, that’s completely unacceptable and we got it wrong.”
Pichai said teams are “working around the clock to address these issues” and the company has seen a “substantial improvement,” without going into further detail.

The CEO’s note then promised a “clear set of actions” to resolve the issue, including structural changes, refreshed product guidelines, technical recommendations, better evaluations, and red-teaming (a process of simulating harmful behavior to spot vulnerabilities).
Pichai’s note also signaled that the company will move forward with its AI roadmap and “build on the product and technical announcements” made in the past few weeks.

Addressing concerns of bias in Gemini’s AI model, Pichai wrote: “We’ve always sought to give users helpful, accurate, and unbiased information in our products. That’s why people trust them. This has to be our approach for all our products, including our emerging AI products.”

3.58%. That is how much Google’s stock value has fallen since the end of last week as the company scrambled to deal with the fallout. The selloff shaved $90 billion off the company’s market cap Monday before the stock mounted a slight recovery over the next few days to end at $140.10 per share.

Google widely launched Gemini earlier this month, replacing its former AI-powered chatbot Bard. Built on the company’s latest AI models, Gemini was touted as a competitor to Microsoft and OpenAI’s offerings like CoPilot, ChatGPT and DALL-E and other generative AI tools like Midjourney and Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion. The controversy around Gemini’s image generation tool emerged last week after users found they were able to generate historically inaccurate images like Black vikings, racially diverse Nazi soldiers and a female pope. Billionaire Elon Musk, who is building xAI as a competitor to Gemini, attacked Google’s service, calling it “woke” and “racist.” Other outlets like the Verge pointed out Gemini’s inaccuracies, noting that a prompt for a “US senator from the 1800s” generated images of a Black woman, even though the first Black woman was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992. Google halted the service from generating images of people after the controversy spiraled and said the company would “further tune” Gemini to offer more accurate historical contexts.

This is not a good thing at all. It's a band aid at best.
Other countries do advertising campaigns to encourage people to eat certain types of food.
None of this would be necessary if there were regulations in place that ban certain kinds of additives and production methods. The ones we have as of now are not nearly enough.

But when we are exposed to aggressive advertisement is it still our choice alone? Many people grow up never tasting real food, besides the ads all they see people around them eat is this junk, choosing to go against early childhood manipulation is not easy and on top of that these unhealthy products are designed to be more addictive, they rewrite the person's brain structure or their brains are miswired while in the process of growing up and still developing. It's the same with other drugs, we can't go and say to a cocaine addict "just stop doing cocaine it's your choice alone" because this is not how addiction works at all.
I meant more like a nationwide campaign to encourage people to eat more chicken or veggies. Other countries do that.
What effect does "more chicken and veggies" have at this point? Do you know how even so called real food is preserved and grown?

I've being seeing people telling how Much Gemini was ahead of ChatGPT and the same was told about Bard now both proved to be failures. That shows how much ahead in the AI the OpenAI company is and the real reason why everyone last year were screaming to stop improvement in AI area.

It also shows how much improvement we need in that area before having something that will really help humanity.
