Character Discussion Kizaru turned out to be trash character.

Power wise, his performance has been a little lacking - at least for the first time he really gets to stretch his legs and show us what he's made of. But now that Vegapunk's seemingly been taken care of, we might get to see him show off a bit more. The arc's not over yet, let's just hope Dorry and Broggy don't fuck it up before it gets good.

As far as his character, I disagree that he has NO problem with what he's doing. He closed his eyes with Bonney and he's been moping around with a big sad face in half the panels, it's just that his moral dilemma isn't really amounting to much as far as action. I've got no idea where the whole "Kizaru for Straw Hat" thing comes from, I've only heard people complaining about it rather than suggesting it. Seems pretty obvious that was never gonna happen lol.

People seem to forget that when Kizaru was introduced he was only fighting characters far weaker than himself, of course he looked good against pre-ts rookies who hadn't even learned haki.

Then during the war he tricked marco into sea stone handcuffs and shot sick/heart attack whitebeard and somehow this meant he was shanks level.

We saw immediately in dressrosa what admirals were like against non-nerfed opponents with haki, then they got humiliated at wano and mariejou but people still tried to make excuses like 'colour trio are different' and 'fujitora is only trolling'. You did it to yourselves, Oda has been consistent with where admirals are, you just refused to see it.

Future sight would make a Speedster like Kizaru impossible to beat. You've to be realistic, weak character need FS, Adv Haki buff to reach that level, casual Kizaru trying has Luffy down and out of energy. Mind you, this is the Luffy that took down Kaidou, WSC.

Kizaru is pretty strong, no issues there. It's just Oda ended up their first fight pretty early when it should've been more flashed out. That's the difference, childrens need visual to comprehend some things.

As for his character, he is what he is supposed to be. Just doing his job.

Kizaru: "Acceleration is po-"

Kizaru: "Okay, that was a one time event. I am a speed man, no one can cat-"

Agree on powerscaling, disagree on character.

As Vegapunk and Kizaru have agreed, Kizaru’s a sad, miserable man. Which makes him a good villain. People just seem not to be able to accept he is a villain, and is an extremely flawed individual to boot. Kizaru is the Admiral who has shown the most commitment to the Celestial Dragon hegemony and will kill the only friends he has because of his orders.

His problem is that fighting wise he has looked lacklustre so far (and we can’t even go back to pre-skip to find better feats, because they aren’t anything amazing now either) and the excuses from his fans for why he‘s looked so poor in that regard are crap. All he’s done since he arrived on Egghead is try to kill his only friends and the excuses we’re getting is “oh, but he looks sad doing it so he’s not really trying.”

You guys have a real problem with the whole admiral job thing. Kizaru isn't going to fight random people on Egghead (no matter how strong they are). Kizaru isn't a pirate, he's working for the strongest organisation in the world. He came on Egghead for only one reason : killing Vegapunk. So far he never tried to fight Luffy directly (just used clones as decoys), even in the last chapter he was focus on Vegapunk and Sanji.

Know what's hilarious? Kizaru is one of the few villains in the series to actually accomplish their main mission despite Luffy & co trying to stop them. He also fucked up the escape plan by destroying Vegaforce.
Kizaru has been unusually ineffective by One Piece standards.

The point of eliminating Vegapunk was because he uh...was researching the ancient history.

If he let's the cat out of the bag, Kizaru accomplished absolutely nothing.

These dudes seriously don't get that.

It’s because they have nothing else to try and criticize. No one can claim that Kizaru turning on his own men and giving the Strawhats an unbelievably easy escape would be better for the story. That would just be ludicrous!

It just galls them that Kizaru is more effective as a reluctant antagonist than some pirate villains who had no such qualms but couldn’t accomplish as much.

They’d rather have Kizaru be an idiot that wastes time with Luffy rather than fulfil the top priority he came for. Seems like some people just got too comfortable with incompetent villains from the previous arc.
