Is there any reason to overthink this so much, other than trying to confirm personal bias ? I think it's very simple and obvious, Zoro is number 2 and Sanji is number 3, that's why he talks about taking down number 2 and 3 while looking at Zoro and Sanji's posters. Which also means Jinbe is number 4.

Yes, Stephen also misinterpreted the line "my Nami-san" that Sanji told Usopp.
I hate to sound like a conspiracyist, but this is the third time in a few weeks that he missed a translation that involves Sanji lol, even when dozens of other translations translated differently.

And people like to give Stephen the final absolute word because he is always attentive to ''context'', even with ALL translators always saying that the language is very ambiguous and several sentences require difficult interpretations and context.
He's a good translator, but he makes mistakes, just like any other.

No, the only reason why Sanji is mentioned is because Queen recognized the name Vinsmoke.
Why would he think that Sanji is 3rd strongest? Because of the bounties? Then he isnt counting Zoro, while he is.
Stop trying to push Sanji where he doesnt belong and there wont be any confusion.
I repeat, the only reason why Sanji is mentioned is because of Vinsmoke Judge.

So far, the Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian translations (are the ones I know how to translate) have not separated Sanji from the phrase of 2nd and 3rd best fighters.
And puck and another translator I know said that there is no ambiguity and that the 2nd and 3rd strongest included Sanji, and made it understood that Stephen was biased here.

But of course, if the whole world translated differently, for idiot fanboys Stephen’s word is the only one that deserves credibility. So it's no use staying here discussing

Like how reliable is Queen exactly? This isn't Oda introducing a new title, this thing cannot be taken for universal fact.

Queen knows nothing of Zoro's power and if perhaps he is referring to the bounties.....

Luffy also said that to Kaido in Kuri (chapter923)

How would Ulti be aware of that? Page 1 was shown pursuing Luffy saying he will "never allow Strawhat to lay his hands on Kaido again "

If page 1 knows about the Kuri incident,Ulti may know too.

I'm not saying the raw texts support Ulti's line in the Viz translation,just that even in that context, it may work.
