Just like Law waited almost 20 years to kill Doffy and had Luffy do the job after landing a powerful blow. It might be even better for storytelling if they get beaten by Kaido, leading to even more drama and frustration.

They may deserve to fight Kaido but they will obligatory lose, just like every other secondary characters and allies who never get to beat the main villain and his lieutnants and to get their revenge. It's the Straw Hats and the other supernovas who will lay the defeating blows.

But we all know this is just a prelude time waster fight. Like Kyros trying to chop Doflamingo's head or Wiper blowing up Enel's heart.
This will be great to re-read but it is torture to read weekly.

as invested in this fight against kaido as the scabbards are .
the reason why kinemon perhaps looks so afraid with pica and looks at kaido with so much conviction is because he has nothing to lose.
he lived for this very moment

people need to get their head out of just seeing the main characters grow
and acknowedge whats behind other characters as well. they all bring something to the story.
