Powers & Abilities Roger could not turn his Supreme Grade Sword into a Black Blade even Though he Loved his sword .......

#61
How do you know Roger could not turn it into a black blade?? Did Oda tell you this? :few:
You have to be one deluded fellow to think the likes of Roger and WB can't turn a sword black permanently but a weaker combatant in Mihawk could:yasu:
It is obvious Roger and WB don't need to boost their sword cos they were powerful enough to defeat anyone bar Garp:giogio:
Being the strongest doesn't mean you are the best at every single thing. That's just a childish mentality. There's some things other characters can excel in more than Roger/WB while overall those 2 are the peak (for now). We literally have a Yonko Commander who has Future Sight while superior characters like Kaido/BM don't.

Kaido and Big Mom don't need FS cos they are natural born monsters who can easily bypass the ability.
Like I said, WB and Roger don't need to turn their blade black cos they are natural born monsters who could defeat everyone bar Garp.
It ain't really that hard to understand:luuh:

Well, turning a blade black might not be about strength alone.
You really think so???? Isn't black blade an armament feat? We'll see in the next coupla chapters when Zoro achieves it.

The effort argument indeed makes no sense.

It implicates for example that Roger and the others didn't pin in enough effort despite possessing a black blade would have only empowered them.

Also it's pretty speculative since it implicates Ryuma knew how to forge one and it didn't come spontaneous which is unknown.

btw... final don't you think loving your blade isn't exactly being one with it... or can it be that the blade turns black only under extreme dire conditions where the master and the swords are one at will...

it can possibly be that roger was sso chad that he never got into such a condition that would meet this requirement... and who knows if he was and had this sword.. had he even mastered it?...

I think I have the best explanation on why Mihawk and Ryuma have a black blades while guys like Roger, Whitebeard, Shanks, Oden, etc. don’t

So y’all know how there’s only two Kokuto users so far in the series? Both Mihawk and Ryuma devoted themselves in the way of swordsmanship. Their goals is to become the strongest swordsmen of their era. While Roger, WB, Shanks, Oden never wants to become the strongest swordsman of their era in the first place. No one have the ambition of becoming the World’s Strongest Swordsman bar Zoro, Mihawk and Ryuma. In order to make a black blade, your goal needs to become the strongest swordsman of your own era. It’s not about Haki, it’s about your ambition.

At this point I doubt that whatever explanation is eventually given will be satisfying. It's clearly not about overall power so it risks both upsetting the sword fans and those expecting it to be strictly logical.
Might as well be something like sticking a sword in one of your orifices.

I think the question should be, can a Supreme Grade Sword be turned black permanently?

Hitestu said that turning Enma black would rank it up. That means it would go from a Great Grade Sword to a Supreme Grade Sword.

As far as we know, Supreme Grade Swords are the highest quality a Sword can achieve. So what would a Supreme Grade Sword being blackened become, and is it even possible to take a Sword past the highest quality?
