The novel isn't set on a time period where we can learn new things about the worldbuilding, Zoro's powers, or his lore (Zoro himself doesn't even know about his ancestry even now), so what it has going for it is "Zoro" and potentially "a good script". If it has the later then that's good enough.

If we get to see Arashi's death it'll be interesting. It's not that bad for Oda to show that in a novel, it's actually more special than ham-fisting it in the background of Wano.

You may say I'm coping for what I'm about to say, but it's also very likely we will still learn more about Ryuma in the future of the manga. Oda skipped over the most important time of Kaido's backstory and that was no coincidence, he considered Wano was not an important enough arc to reveal too much about Rocks. There'll be a time to learn about them just like there will be a time to learn more about Ryuma when we learn more about the world's history, the Gorosei's or Mihawk's.

This manga just takes too long.

The time period doesn't matter, the novel can tell us how Zoro heard about the WSS title, it can have fights that we've never heard of in the manga, it can even give us details on the hawk vs rat fights.
If this is anything like the Ace novel then expect shit like Kuina being a conqueror, Mihawk using CoC and FS in a random ass fight. :quest:

Pinzoro appearance leaked

Those expectations will set you up for disappointment. The Ace novel got all that precisely because of its life period of the character it followed.

Well, I guess what we could get is a proper statement of Mihawk being stronger than Shanks (for doubters). But anything beyond that, on a novel told from pre-Baratie Zoro's perspective... it's doubtful.

:sus:Oda should just write a Mihawk novel instead.

This has nothing to do with Ace and yet it was in the novel

"When it comes to the heroic tales of Red Hair Shanks, what came to mind was his duel(s) with the strongest swordsman Mihawk.”

Another

"From WB's perpective beating a Shishibukai can increase your reputation as much as beating an emperor"

Fair enough, we can get some hype sentences.

At least we'll get ammunition for power scaling discussions.

If the novel explains , since childhood to east blue....
We get to know about mihawk vs Shanks... last encounter or something...
I also want to be hopeful, but I don't expect anything new about their duels in a novel focused on Zoro at a time where he himself only knew of Mihawk's title.

If we're extremely lucky someone might mention Mihawk obtaining the title and give a hint at something new or something, but that's far from a given.

We're likely to learn a lot of things about Johnny and Yosaku and some minor villain we still don't know about.
