Controversial "With Hard Work and Dedication, you can be Rich", is it really?

lol you will be poor in the US with $2000 a month
do you not how much housing even costs????

it's around 2k alone a month for rent

The problem is apparently just the rent, but everything else is much cheaper for you. Here in Brazil we pay 10 times more for electronics than you do. Food there is about 10 times cheaper than here too as far as I know. In Brazil with 2 thousand a month you are obliged to live with your parents. Car too, poor and even middle class here pay 30k in an ugly and used car. Our minimum wage in reais is lower than yours in dollars.

If you live in the US and earn $2,000 a month, I think you're rich.
Breh my rent in Croatia is 250 Euros and my paycheck isn 900-1000 euros

Eletricity, heating, internet and so on make it around 300-350 depending on season

And i still have more than enough to live on

2000 for rent feels mental to me

I am pretty sure Brazil doesnt have 10 times more expensive foods than US. The electronics are also not 10 times cheaper πŸ˜‚

2000 dollars for rent? Oh my, that is very expensive.
You won't get an apartment with that price in many states. Ask @LANJI CUCKSMOKE (iirc who lives in cali). 3000-4000 per month for an apartment is pretty common in California

Very expensive. I have family in Wisconsin and I believe they pay like 1000-1200. And they pay it between 3 adults. Their salary is normal I believe, 600 dollars per week.

In Mississippi the cost of living is probably way cheaper than 24k a year

Really? I would believe this pre pandemic times, but the cost of living can't be way cheaper than 24k now!

Its expensive in any big cities in the world.

This is so true. The chances of going broke are high if someone tries to reach that top 1% lol

Do you mean 7 figures yearly salary? Or 7 figures worth of assets accumulated over someone's entire life?
The latter. Personally I don’t see the need unless you are willing to be smart with it and plan to start a business with it. Most basic needs can be comfortably met making less.

Definitely not bro lol, not a chance with how things are right now with the inflation in the US. If you’re talking about the US in the early 1900s then perhaps.

Yup
if you stay closer to sf or in the city itself it will be even higher than that for decent/nicer areas
but most folks get housemates/room-mates .

I feel like people also conflate being comfortable/satisfied and rich

someone here earning half a mil
is prob a really comfortable person but I won't call them rich. that's the typical upper middle class home here .

In my part of the US, full-time work for minimum wage gets you $1400 a month after taxes, and the average rent is $1300 to $1700 a month.

Aside from rent you have food, transportation, medical coverage and phone. In the US across the board, you need to make around $4000 a month after taxes to live comfortably.

if you work a minimum wage job and are in an area with $1500 rent... then thats your own fault unfortunately
