Nami's moment against Ulti was supposed to mirror Usopp's moment in Alabasta. What made that great was seeing Usopp go through all that punishment and then declare it. That's exactly what's missing here with Nami imo.
Funny thing is how Usopp got his skull cracked by both Mr4 and Ulti.

P1 and Ulti were clearly shown to be predictable and dumb, and their first act together was Ulti accidentally knocking P1 out by using him as a slide. Oda could've easily had Nami use mirage tempo to trick the siblings into hitting each other like Usopp and Chopper did against Mr4 and Merry Christmas.

No, Oda literally did not draw a single instance of Ulti landing an attack on Nami and only gave us the aftermath.

Nor do we see her “torture” Nami, we see her hold Nami and demand that she say Luffy will never be Pirate King.
Oda literally drew Nami covered in blood laying on the ground before Ulti picked her up. Its your fault that you need it drawn out piece by piece, not Oda’s. If Oda didn’t like it, he never would have put Nami in that situation to begin with, let alone twice after Ulti grabbed onto her before Big Mom hit her. The suggestion that Oda is less okay with showing Nami getting damaged than a kid (Tama) is ridiculous.

Because that's the case? Nami was never shown getting damaged ON SCREEN since the timeskip
Pre TS he had no problem showing her getting pierced, punched and kicked

Nami getting drawn soaked in blood and covered in cuts and bruises but people complaining because they didn’t get to see the punch that caused it is peak ridiculousness from the OP fanbase.

Seriously, how hard would it have been for Oda to have Nami and Usopp take out P1 and Ulti?

1. Use traps and misdirection to trick Ulti and P1 into hitting an impact dial repeatedly.

2. Usopp manages to get the dial stuck on Ulti's forehead

3. Ulti tries to headbutt Usopp which turns out to be a Nami mirage hiding P1 behind it

4. Ulti headbutt P1 with a super beefed up impact dial that takes out P1, and hurts Ulti due to the insane recoil.

5. Nami finishes them off with lightning as powerful as Zeus that she's been preping the whole time

So exactly what I said, offpanelling.

Yes, it is indeed my fault that I prefer to see an actual fight between combatants rather than:

-offpanel the bit where the villain shows their strength and beats the hero
-chapters of chase scenes where the villain fails miserably to land a hit on our hero
-gets a stronger character to weaken the villain drastically
-hero beats the villain thanks to a sentient weapon making up for her ineptness

With the ultimate result being at no point do we actually see a fight with any sort of give and take, exchange of attacks.

If Oda didn’t like it, he never would have put Nami in that situation to begin with
What kind of argument is this?

Yes, I can pretty clearly see that Oda does not like drawing Nami get hurt. He‘ll draw the aftermath, he’ll draw Usopp get Ulti-Mortared, but at zero points in the entire fight did we actually see Nami take damage.

Unlike her superior pre-skip fights.
The suggestion that Oda is less okay with showing Nami getting damaged than a kid (Tama) is ridiculous.
And yet it seems that is indeed the case, because he refused to show anyone hurt Nami. Can’t even remember the last time he did.

the obvious direction to Zeus and Nami relationship is super obvious

She use her knowledge on weather to use him in battle, that have great potential for creativity in Nami fights

about Ulti, Ulti will return

By the way, it's not hate against the character or being thirsty for blood. But It's hard to root for a protagonist in a battle when Oda off screen their struggle as i know nothing will ever happen to them on panel. Actually showing the scene where she tried to desperately fight Ulti but ultimately got crushed would have added tension and made subsequent scenes better.
Basically by pampering Nami and not allowing anyone to land a hit on her on screen, Oda is doing the character a disservice.
No, I'm not saying Nami should start taking Kaido's COC imbued club swing, but when she gets roughed up, show it.

Exactly. Robin vs Black Maria is a much better fight, because it’s actually a fight. Robin uses her DF in some interesting ways, her and Black Maria take each other on face to face, they both suffer attacks and get wounded so we can actually see Robin’s struggle and overcome her foe.

Nami vs Ulti isn’t a fight, it’s an offpanelled beating, a chase scene and a few disconnected attacks with little in the way of choreography.

All the off-panelled stuff would still have been fine if for the finisher we got to actually get a chapter of them taking each other on properly. But we didn’t, she just showed up, attacked Usopp (again, not Nami) then Nami finished her. It was crap.

Even Greg the super fanboy who met Oda and rarely voice his displeasure was extremely vocal about his dislike of the fight on twitter and AP. Was even talking about maybe writing a letter to Oda lol. This is how bad it was.

Such a missed opportunity to have Usopp get hit by a headbutt and bait her with a second one only to have a dial absorb it and use it against her or P1, would have been such an Usopp moment to bait her

So many fights got the offscreen treatment in this "war".

- Jack vs Sulong Army & then the Sulong Dukes
- The Scabbards getting thrashed by Kaido
- Nami vs Ulti
- Marco vs the Calamities and then the rest of Marco vs King
- Luffy getting K/O'd by Kaido and being thrown into the sea
- Jack vs Inu & Perospero vs Neko
- Both Sanji vs Queen and Zoro vs King could've had a chapter extra.

But yeah, asking to see these fights instead of the dozens of ridiculous Gifter designs or panels of Tama filler is "peak ridiculousness" from the OP fanbase, according to Oda nuthuggers.

Yeah that would've been better. Usopp could've hidden the impact dial under his helmet and make it look like he's invincible, freaking out everyone including Nami.

Deliberately edging Ulti and P1 to hit him in the head, but they hit in the stomach instead. Could even have some comedy that's actually funny.

Yeah, if I didn’t like Nami, I wouldn’t care.

Example being the fights against Jack and Perospero, which were also terrible but because I don’t like Carrot just made me laugh at how bad it was.

But I do like Nami, so I want her to get good fights, which Nami vs Ulti blatantly wasn’t.

What's funny is that we know observation haki can only be used properly when someone is focused. Was literally stated by Katakuri, the COO expert.
Or while Ulti is a COO user she's extremely emotional and prompt to anger. The opposite of focused. I really don't think it would have been that unbelievable for the two weaklings to piss and trick her (who have stuff like smokescreen, mirage in their arsenal on top of plenthora of accesories and pop green) into using her most powerful headbutt to smash her brother skull in. Then she tries to headbutt Usopp who prepared an impact dial and returned the hit against her, while Nami lands the finisher with a trap/huge lightning bolt she prepared.
I'm sure there are would have been complaints about it from people that can't accept weakling beating NW top dogs, but at least they would have earned their victory instead of freakin Big Mom doing their homeworks
