the sword doesn't discriminate
it will do its job of taking as much haki as it needs to cut more than needed regardless of who is holding it .
the point of the flashback was for zoro to understand a sword's job is to take lives, not just the ones of other people but in enma's case even the one of the owner themselves and they have a name for swords like that, cursed swords.

the sword looks for someone strong enough to hold it regardless of the will of its prev owner. it doesnt give leeway to one user while being harsh on another. again thats not how this works.

Well, there is logic for me to place Kaido as superior to IMU, there is no reason for you to assume otherwise when IMU does not have any declaration of strength that puts him above kaido, this is nothing more than mere speculation of yours.

there 2 options
1. imu is just a regular human and anybody with haki can beat him
2. imu is the strongest.
the only scenario where imu is weaker than kaido is when he is not a fighter, otherwise he would beat kaido
