Well I understand that samurai usually answer up to leaders such as daimyo or shogun, whereas pirates answer up to captains. Oda could have easily had Yamato go around calling herself a pirate similar to how Usopp did with his Usopp Pirates, whom didn't even have a pirate ship of their own. Instead, not only is Yamato in Wano, but might even be going around referring to herself as a samurai, under Momo, instead of a pirate like how Oden was in the past.
