Luffy wouldn't outperform Law against Gifters. Law can just shambles them and they're instantly gone.

That's not to say Luffy is weaker than him. You do know being stronger than someone doesn't mean you're superior in every way.

My argument in the past was that Oda would not have portrayed a Zoro v King wasting at least 10 chapters on it when Kaido was up there waiting on the roof for his contenders. It would have felt like decreasing the hype of Zoro v King since someone else would have started fighting Kaido first fundamentally. And of course once Kaido is defeated I don't see a sensible reason by which Zoro should take on any other opponent.
