Okay so there are issues with this line of reasoning
-How do you know Shanks doesn't care about the title? Him challenging Mihawk automatically means he cares for the title because if by chance he won the fight, he would get the title
-How does any swordsman "Not care" for the title. All it takes to care for the title is to get stronger, getting stronger automatically puts you in running. Its not a championship, or a medal, its just WHOLE WORLDs unanimous acknowledgement of your combat power.

But fighting Mihawk is not the only way to get WSS title though, being stronger than Mihawk means you get the title.

Shanks is a public figure and world is aware of his power as much as they are of Mihawks. And if his combat strength impresses World more than Shanks', world would call him WSS and not Mihawk.

What you are suggesting means Mihawks title is not legit which would demean Zoros ambition.
And considering Zoro is by far the second most important character, who Oda loves and spent more time and effort in than anyone else, it doesn't make much sense.

Its like denying Gol D Roger's legitimacy as a pirate

Shanks might be a swordsman, but that doesn't automatically make him inferior to Mihawk. As I said before, Mihawk and Shanks use their swords differently. Mihawk, like Zoro, would probably die for their blade and I just don't see Shanks doing the same thing. He seems to be more proficient at using Haki. His sword is just a tool he's using to fight with.

Mihawk didn't want to fight one armed Shanks, because of his pride. He likes fair duels, and doesn't wanna fight against someone who has a minor disadvantage.

Shanks doesn't have the WSS title, so he is of no interest to Zoro. Also, Luffy and Shanks have a strong relationship.

Shanks being a Yonko already proves that he is stronger than Mihawk.

Mihawk/Akainu/etc might be a creature but that doesn’t automatically make them weaker than Kaido. They fight differently blah blah.

And again, how does being a Yonko make Shanks stronger? If it’s Mihawk v Shanks in a 1v1, Mihawk is stronger. Shanks and crew vs Mihawk is a different story though.

And as for the pride thing...is Mihawk not gonna fight Zoro since he has one eye?
