Can we just make a rule here that Carrot stans and Yamato stans aren't allowed to use "they don't have a defined dream" as an argument against each other? I swear, every time the "criteria" argument comes up people do this and it's just silly. They both have the same "dream".
Nope. Dreams are a vital part of what makes a Strawhat, and any criticism of both is well justified.

I'm not saying you can't criticize them for it. I'm saying you can't criticize one for it while saying the other is going to join. Either it doesn't matter for either or it disqualifies both.
To be quite fair though, Carrot has been around for nearly 200 chapters with no established, pre-defined dream.

Yamato has been around for less than 20 and already is starting to show at least some semblance of one.

Now, Im not saying Carrot can't. People like Robin, Nami and Jinbe went a while without having theirs established. But even then. You found out their dreams or at least hints to them in far, far less time.

Just saying, there is a loose plot thread from WCI, and that involves Peckoms. Knowing how Oda handles "deaths" like Pound, I would not be shocked if Pedro showed up with Peckoms if Carrot and Wanda started losing to Perospero. It just seems like pretty plausible arc that may still happen.

Actually we already know what Yamao's dream is.
And that's exactly what I see her doing after Wano. Just declaring that Wano's borders are open doesn't actually do anything. To open borders means to allow trade and travel of goods, ideas and people. How will a nation that's been isolated for centuries just automatically reconnect with the rest of the world out of the blue? Someone needs to set out and reestablish those bonds that were lost over 800 years. That someone will be the shogun Momo with his chum Yamao for protection.

Carrot's dream regarding the dawn is more ambiguous seeing as she herself doesn't fully understand it (at the moment), however Pedro has foreshadowed that she definitely will and so we wait for the moment that it's made explicitly clear as that's a dream that can definetly lead towards her joining the crew.

That's her interim Goal as being Oden, To get his Dream to be a success. She's more than just "I am Oden Go Burr" She's devoted 20 years of her life to open the borders but she has already stated she wants to do more than just that. Protecting Wano? That's not her job and She shouldn't need to, That just sounds like what You want to have happen. You're being dishonest.

20 years being stuck on Onigashima and you think she'd just be happy with just Wano? Don't make me laugh. Yamato has goals and dreams, She just need to do the footwork, and sitting in Wano isn't going to do it.

I really don't understand this point about Yamato. Momo already has the scabbards for protection, and Yamato has had simultaneous dreams of opening Wano's borders and setting sail with Luffy for years. Momo being alive doesn't change that. She wants to open the borders and then see the world on the Pirate King's crew. Where in there does she say anything about wanting to travel around as an emissary of Wano?

But what Oda could planing: Jimbe joint "officaly" (with infobox) in this arc. Maybe he will give Carrot more time in the next arc before joining.
Jinbe's dream was already known 2 arcs before "officially" joining though. It was very clear cut during Fishman Island what he wants to do: Save his people from oppression.

Carrot really hasn't had the luxury, and we just don't know enough about Yamato yet

I really don't understand this point about Yamato. Momo already has the scabbards for protection,
The scabbards have been at it for decades. They're exhausted. Multiple have lost limbs throughout their battles. They've got family on Wano waiting for them. They've endured the mental fatigue and they've even had their own journey out at sea. Their hardest moment has come in their fight against Kaido. Now the most fitting thing for them to do is to take a quieter resolution. Organising and leading the rebuilding of Wano after the war and enjoying the country that they once loved that had been taken from them for over 20 years.

The scabbards were Oden's retainers. They then protected Momo because he was Oden's son and heir, but a part of Momo's character arc is that he can become his own person and doesn't need to be exactly like Oden. Therefore it would make sense if Momo also had his own retainers.

You can even look at the new volume cover:

The white, green and blue shading resembles Yamao's hair. It's as if the role that the scabbards used to play as a collective, can be found all within Yamao. Keep in mind that the name of this volume is "Vassals of Glory", entirely themed after retainers.

They're from Roger's generation and they did their job in organising the raid on Onigashima and the war. It will be the job of the new generation guardian to then take over from them and continue on post Wano. And that's exactly how Oda's been setting her up with her protecting Momo and developing a deeper and deeper bond with him instead of the straw hats.
Yamato has had simultaneous dreams of opening Wano's borders and setting sail with Luffy for years.
She has dreams of opening Wano's borders and *adventuring. She only expected a ride on Luffy's ship solely when she was roleplaying as Kozuki Oden. But she isn't Oden and she never will be, as Luffy himself told her. When she was speaking as herself and not Oden, she declared that she'd lay down her life for Momo.
Momo being alive doesn't change that. She wants to open the borders and then see the world on the Pirate King's crew.
She never said this.
Where in there does she say anything about wanting to travel around as an emissary of Wano?
She never said this either. But she did say that she wants to open the borders of Wano, protect Momo with her life and also adventure. Travelling around with Momo reconnecting Wano to the rest of the world would simultaneously allow her to do all three, unlike joining the straw hats.

Her devil fruit should make her role even clearer as they are very often reflective of a part of someone's character. (Doflamingo the puppetmaster with a string df, big mom with the power to give life to things, just like a Mum etc.) If Yamao gets the Byakko (White Tiger) devil fruit, then that basically confirms her role as Momo's protector since the Byakko was a mythological Japanese guardian.

lol You're so dishonest and only view it Your way.
The 9 Scabbards are shown yes, but They are not colored the same way as Luffy and Yamato, Which they themselves are back to back while the rest of spread out...
You're argument of her getting on the boat because it's what Oden did/does, falls apart because her intent was not for that but for Ace.

Amazing how some people analyze all the things Yamato has said as proof that she won’t join...conveniently omitting the most important phrase, which is when she literally asked to join Luffy’s crew. Seems like that should hold equal weight to everything else

Also, not for nothing, but EVERY other SHP that isn’t Jinbe joined within 100 chapters of their introduction...we’re approaching 200 and counting with Carrot, and STILL all we know about her is “admires Pedro” and “wants to travel the world,” neither of which directly concerns our protagonists :kayneshrug:

It's too late in the game for any other Straw Hats imo. Jinbe even seems like an odd fit, and he's been pledged to join for a long time.
The last OP magazine basically confirmed that we're getting another straw hat. However, I totally agree that it's too late in the game. That's why like with Jinbe it is essential for them to already be known and associated with the crew before joining. Characters like Kin emon, Momo, Law and Carrot would work in that regard since they've been travelling with the straw hats for arcs now. Act 1 of Wano was the latest point for me that I could see Oda risking introducing a straw hat. If someone was gonna join then we would already know who they were at the very least by that point.
