See the latest chapter for another example of “Oda gives not a single solitary fuck about showing Carrot.”
In fairness, Yamato wasn't shown in the double spread of people reacting to Kaido's declaration (this is something that I was really looking forward to seeing). I'm not even sure what heuristic was used to determine who to show.
The following people reacted:
  • All Strawhats
  • Kidd
  • Law
  • Marco
  • Tama
  • Who's Who
  • Hyougoro
  • Yakuza bosses/random samurai

But not the following:
  • Yamato
  • Momonosuke
  • Killer
  • Drake
  • Hawkins
  • Apoo
  • Any Scabbard
  • Any other Tobi Roppo

Some of the people that were left out are much more important than some of those that were involved.

Yamato's absence in particular was stark enough that I'm hoping Oda only left her out to give her a more detailed reaction in the next chapter.

Unlike the other members of the alliance, she was the only one that did not believe in Luffy's success and instead was hurrying to assist him:

Even just a simple "I was too late!" would have done.

Worse still, she abandoned protecting Momonosuke (a task Luffy entrusted her with) to fight Kaido:

And by so doing placed him in very grave danger:

This has been repeated by multiple characters. It's not just a matter of protecting a young kid... Momo absolutely, positively, under no circumstances can afford to die. He has a very important role yet to play in the story. One that is most likely going to stretch beyond just the Wano arc.

If only this super important defenceless little kid had someone to protect him through all of this. His inherited guardians are old, crippled, and dying. If only he had a very powerful young guardian who was willing to give even their life to make sure he could survive to carry out his role. Someone who sympathises with Momo and harbours lifelong regrets about not being able to have protected him in the past... If only such a person existed...

yamato isn't going stay wano. Let's not also forget the mink tribe loyal kozuki clan as well.

Even if Chopper's monster point got extended, it's clear it's not enough. So he's still due for something else besides Monster Point extended.
Not enough to do what exactly? Chopper's one of the weakest straw hats but yet he's stalling the second commander of a yonko crew. Most wouldn't even expect that strength from EoS Chopper, let alone during Wano. What more could he possibly need?

She was in the chapter though. And has been shown consistently since she came into the story. Yamato is clearly one of the main characters in Onigashima. Since her introduction she’s never had a large absence.

Carrot, on the other hand, is relentlessly irrelevant. Her being absent from this chapter isn’t even remotely surprising. She’s just one of a host of less important characters, like Raizo or Hawkins, and it‘s clear that Oda is not prioritising her the way he is Yamato. There’s a big cast on Wano, and not ever character can be given screentime. Carrot isn’t getting much because she’s not very important, while Yamato has had a lot.

Basically, Yamato gives us reasons to talk about her as a future Strawhat, by actually being in the manga a lot, whereas with Carrot you have to go for the bizarre argument that Oda is ignoring the next Strawhat in some baffling attempt to mislead readers.

Chopper having access to an extended Monster Point is great and him stalling Queen is great, but clearly he isn't that satisfied with the damage output currently. And Chopper can still improve in many ways, Monster Point isn't the end all be all power up either lol

Now we wait for Yamao's big moment. Shinobu will stall for all the 5 seconds she's worth until Yamao can rush in and reclaim her role as babysitter. Perhaps this is where she'll show off her Byakko transformation (which she inevitably has) to fully cement the position of her as a guardian.

A guardian protector that appears only when the emperor is virtuous basically hammers home the point that Yamao's role is Momo bound.

Point well taken. Yamato getting proper screen time devote to her as character. Carrot on other hand has become more of background character by comparison.. It's sad sight for the furry girl fall. Plus, when yamato does confront her father we are Definitely going see flashback between these two characters. This arc since act 3 has started has certain around her as character alongside with momo.

Do you think it's plausible that Yamato remains behind to protect Momo?

And why so much hate to Carrot? XDxD
Re-read the raid pls, she has been in every chapter until Ch 995, she left the skull to fight Perospero, and not a long time ago appeared defeated, OFC she'll come back because someone must heal Wanda...and there she'll met Chopper. After that she could easily be helping chopper for the rest of the arc...

Not even slightly. There’s no chance in One Piece that a character who wants to adventure, was stopped from doing it with explosive handcuffs, has said multiple times they want to go on an adventure, doesn’t get to.

She’s leaving Wano, only question is what she’ll be doing when she leaves.

The Scabbards and the samurai can protect Momo, if they need to, from the majority of people in the world. The only ones they couldn’t stop would be
-Blackbeard
-the World Gov
And Yamato couldn’t stop either. So there’s no point in her staying behind.

Well damn, I guess Tama is the only candidate left then.:kayneshrug:
We still have hiyori
She is hiding and get off-screened for some reason surely. Big moments of revelation is coming

I think oda is still saving yamato-kaido meeting for later. But it is surely will happen. She will fight alongside luffy next time because kaido was not meant to be defeated 1vs1
