Storytelling is an evidence when there's nothing suggesting what your going for...

Storytelling rule ARE the evidence my dear!

In storytelling you CAN'T make a character change without good reasons, it a BASIC RULE. If you don't do that, you will end up with a very weird looking product, not up to the standards of the industry.

One Piece is peak fiction, meaning that Oda knows that rule (and many others) to create a good well written story. So he knows that he can't just decide to make Carrot want to go back home when he pushed her during 6 years to be a happy and full of wonder for the world and discovery girl.


Oda KNOWS that to make Carrot go back to Zou, he would need to give her a very good reason for that, something that would match her wonder for the world and FORCED HER to stay behind rather than sneaking again for more adventure.
