If Luffy is a top-tier without his fruit why does he always feel the need to use it, despite the huge drawback?

Kizaru's hardly a character. His role is to be the OP guy with an OP df.

Luffy is no longer any different than Narujesus or Ichigo, he's just another carried MC when we all thought he had a mid tier fruit. He's lost his identity and charm. Bringing up Kizaru doesn't do anything.

Luffy has always been defined by being special, literally since the earliest arcs of One Piece.

Kizaru doesn't need to have anything to do with Luffy, it was just a convenient example to point out your hypocrisy.

It's kinda interesting that Luffy is exactly at that position to laugh at VP's death when he was stating that stuff in this panel.
Both scenarios are due to DF side effect.

I'm sure there will be a twist and Luffy will lose his mind in G5 and the real, crazy, villainous Nika appears.

You're almost there champ.

We knew Luffy was a D and had CoC, but the one thing that kept Luffy grounded was his mid tier df. These things put together were a major part of Luffy's identity.

Heck as recently as WCI we had a df which wasn't even close to top tier (mochi fruit) being hammered down to the readers as a superior version of the gomu fruit.

Fast forward to now and Oda has taken the sole exception and arguably made it even more special than everything else. Slap in the face to a lot of readers.

Nah, Wano as a whole ruined the manga but it is what we got after that that is actually giving it back some life: talking about arc interludes and Egghead in general is quite enjoyable. Also agenda piece is quite a show with the neverending offpaneled Zoro vs Lucci plus Kizaru and Saturn fights vs Luffy. Oh and Sanji as well in the last chapters. Gold.
