“Death” is just a writer’s copout from Oda lol. Who cares if Absalom died if he isn’t actually going to be removed from the story?
That’s ultimately what the whole “Death” conversation in OP boils down to, the idea that Oda is too scared to actually remove characters from the story in a meaningful way, so that when he actually does “kill” someone like Pound, there’s no point in believing it anymore because Oda will undo Vergo’s, Monet’s, and Pedro’s Death in a freaking heartbeat if he thinks it’d be funny to see them cooking some obscure Japanese dish in a cover story.
I don’t care how many characters Oda “kills”, I care how many of them Oda is brave enough to remove from the story for the sake of narrative weight, the number of which is basically 0.
