Luffy fights his opponent to the point where Luffy himself ends up passing out shortly afterwards. If Luffy knocks out Kaido, and then passes out himself, and Kaido ends up getting back up, while Luffy is still knocked out, then the winner would be Kaido, not Luffy, because they both passed out, but Kaido got back up.

Or are we supposed to believe that Kaido won't be able to push Luffy to that point?
Sure, Luffy doesn't need to pass out at the same time as Kaido.
Just apply this same scenario but to a more extreme degree.
If Luffy is still standing, but Kaido isn't, Luffy will be the winner.
If Luffy passes out 2 minutes, 5 minutes or x minutes after, he would still be the winner.
When Kaido recovers from his defeat and rises back up x minutes after, it doesn't take away the fact that Luffy did defeat him.

If you don't like the idea of Luffy remaining passed out to show how dependable his crew is.
You can have Luffy comeback and duo with Zoro, the same way they did in Punk Hazard.
By that point, Luffy would have already achieved his goal.
He would have defeated Kaido 1-on-1; them putting Kaido down for good would be a separate task.

Bonclay said "I thought we beat it already"
Implying that as the linotaur is back they didn't beat him yet.

Moreover comparison didn't stand here.
If Luffy defezts Kaido he will probably be too tired to still fight.

If Kaido can still fight he is the winner
Luffy vs Katakuri : At the end of the fight and after Katakuri's speech it was made clear he couldn't fight anymore (sbs) whereas Luffy could.

Luffy didn't defeated Morgan but he proved he was stronger.
Defeat = Getting Knocked out.
Did they knock out the Minotaur? Yes, they did.
That's why they correctly believed that they defeated the Minotaur and moved on.
When Bon Clay sees the Minotaur, he questions if they really did knock him out.
They did, we can go back and see, so they did defeat him.
However, Crocodile explains that defeating them doesn't prevent them from getting back up because of awakening.

Luffy can fight Kaido.
Luffy knocks him out.
Luffy is still standing, Kaido isn't.
Luffy is viewed as the winner, no problems here.

Later on, once Luffy has moved on from Kaido because he has correctly assessed that he's defeated him.
He could eventually pass out.
When this is the case, Kaido can rise back up thanks to his awakening.
It doesn't change the fact that he got knocked out and that Luffy beat him.
In fact, Kaido himself could literally say that Luffy defeated him.

But at some point, we're going to need to go beyond knocking him out;

First of all, do you agree that Katakuri won over Luffy?

Defeat = Getting Knocked
Usually yes.
In that case no.
For example BM put an hole in Ulti's belly and Knocked her out but as Nami land the final Blow, it was considered as a victory for Nami.
BM is also without any doubt the character who deals the most damages to Ulti.
When Bon Clay sees the Minotaur, he questions if they really did knock him out.
They did, we can go back and see, so they did defeat him.
They didn't go back. It was an explanation from Crocodile. The fact that they are a threat means they aren't defeated at best it's a knock down.
However, Crocodile explains that defeating them doesn't prevent them from getting back up because of awakening
Crocodile doesn't confirm they were defeated he rather explained why they are back.
Luffy is viewed as the winner, no problems here.
In normal case yes. Zoans have an ability who allows them to recover quickly so technically they are defeated when this ability can't works anymore.
It's like someone who is unkillable he can create new lims heads heart and everything if you cut his head you can't consider that you win.

The goal of Luffy's victories is to make his opponents unable to threaten people anymore.
He constantly said I will free Wa No from Kaido if Kaido can goes on a rampage Luffy didn't win.

But at some point, we're going to need to go beyond knocking him out;
Awakening won't be unlimited.
So Luffy just need to overcome that ability.
Nami even have the same reaction as Bonclay
-Mary's confirmed Ulti's defeat only after Nami land her last attacks despite everyone agreed she was blasted.

Actually this question apply to ZKK faction only. If you think that Zoro has two main feats/fights in this arc (beating King and then ZKK), what do you think will be Luffy's second feat aside from beating Kaidou? Or do you think Luffy won't get anything other than Kaidou as his main fight?
Destroy the falling Onigashima in one punch.

So you think Luffy will beat Kaidou (non-awakening version) while Zoro will kill the even stronger version of Kaidou (awakening version) that is recovered to full health, even after beating King? Seems like a scenario with too much spotlite for Zoro and too little spotlite for Luffy imo.
You can answer the question of the thread yourself. What did Luffy get in Thriller Bark where Zoro shined?
You should be happy if he manages to knock out exhausted Kaido.

Oda didn't allow Luffy to destroy Noah, maybe Luffy will accomplish something similar now by destroying Onigashima!
Luffy won't Touch Onigashima it's Momo's role. Even Yamato wasn't allowed to take care of Onigashima
If Luffy destroys Onigashima he will also kill Alliance member
Remember Onigashima can't touch Wa No

Zoro won't fight the WG after ZKK Luffy will beat Lucci again

Lucci again? I dont think Lucci will even pose any threat tho

Well Goku generally has spotlight in every arc but Gohan got some against cell.
Yea if you parallel it with Goku it may happen, i just don't think someone with WSC status, main villain arc that also wanna be PK, and also someone who can only be beaten by Luffy according to both Yamato and Zoro, will end up in ZKK which in many member's view is the fully-recovered version of Kaidou, not even the already near-death Kaidou.

You can answer the question of the thread yourself. What did Luffy get in Thriller Bark where Zoro shined?

In TB, Zoro beat Ryuma and endure Luffy's pain. He beat 1 opponent and managed to get Kuma's mercy, Zoro shined yeah but didn't beat more opponent than Luffy. Luffy beat both Oars and Moria. Luffy won, Zoro endured Luffy's pain.

And Kaidou didn't even begin to get weakened or exhausted until Luffy fought him, sorry. Onigashima began to crumble after/because Luffy vs Kaidou, not anyone/everyone else vs Kaidou.

Luffy defeats Kaido & Zoro kills him after he recovers. Do Not Know How To Dumb It Any Further
So Zoro also beat Kaidou since he recovered? while Yamato said Luffy is the one and only capable of doing it? If Zoro does ZKK the beaten Kaidou, it may be more acceptable to me tho. Or if Zoro beat a recovered Kaidou while Luffy beat an even stronger enemy in the same arc, it maybe more acceptable...but there's no one stronger than Kaidou for Luffy to beat.

If Luffy beats Kaido, What will Luffy do aside from beating Kaido ? Is the right way to pose this question, Yall dirty ass thread makers trying to summon ZKK and Zoro haters and cause a fandom war in this thread to sound intelligent while you barely have room temp IQ
Room temp IQ stuff is not needed tho lol you can just state your view about it. You state about fandom wars etc while you're the one insulting is kinda ironic.

Yes if it happens. Pretty straightforward amirite? :goyea:

while Yamato said Luffy is the one and only capable of doing it?

So? Yamato also claims to be Oden? She's got bigger things to worry about....like seeing a therapist ASAP. Plus she knows zilch about Zoro

If Zoro does ZKK the beaten Kaidou, it may be more acceptable to me tho.

Exactly nobody is saying Zoro is going to beat a much stronger and fully recovered Kaido, compared to the current weakened one Luffy is fighting.
Just that Kaido, you know the man with the current strongest Zoan fruit to date, will recover just as all zoans do and Luffy as per usual will be out of it. Zorojuro will then as per usual defend his Capitano by killing the overgrown lizard :zosmug:

Woah, Woah, Woah, hold on there fella.
Luffy didnt do anything in Thriller Bark on his own - exactly how he didnt do anything on his own in Wano. Nothing new.
Luffy didnt defeat Oars, the Strawhats together did. Luffy didnt defeat Kaido, the Supernovas, Yamato and Scababrds together did.

Luffy didnt defeat Moriah, it was Moriah himself who sealed his fate with Shadow Asgard and the thing that KOed him was the huge tower that fell on him. Also, the majority of the damage Moriah took comes from Nightmare Luffy which is Moriah's own power...
So, you see, Luffy has barely done anything in TB on his own. Since TB is mirroring Wano, beating exhausted Kaido is more than enough.

As I said, you should be more than happy if that even happens. This is Zoro's arc, no way around it. Land of the Sword God after all.
