There isn't a reason to cover anything up. It's the other way around. If the WG knew Ryuma was the sole reason and long gone, they would've invaded Wano instead of staying out of it.
And now btw the WG and the new world knows that Kaido conquered Wano and controls it. Whitebeard himself hesitated going to war with him and the CP0 hesitated too when Orochi said he has Kaido on his side.
That said, relatively strong pirates (Kaido, prime Moriah, Big Mom, Ace, etc.) have no problem invading Wano. The WG mostly controls fodder countries anyways. The most powerful countries are allied or under the control of the Yonko (Wano, possibly Elbaf).
The samurai nowadays are just referred to as "unknown force" one should consider before heading out.
