Damn. My comment from yesterday triggered such a shitstorm. So how about this? My stance will remain that Luffy was clearly stronger than Zoro since returning from the timeskip. Just don't reply to me trying to change my mind about it if you don't want to start another toxic debate

Mihawk and Perona actively look out for Zoro in the papers much like a concerned family would. Perona sat in on Zoro’s training sessions, everyone shared Mihawk’s signature red wine and they took turns cooking for each other. I’d say that’s more like family to me than anything I’ve seen from the SHP.
Wait! Did those happen? I didn't know that they cooked in turns and shared Red wine together.

It’s subtle but it’s strongly implied from the subtext of Zoro’s flashback and Mihawk’s conversation with Perona.

When Perona first met Mihawk, she asked him to bring her a hot cocoa and he told her to stfu while he was reading the news about Moria. During Zoro’s Dressrosa flashback you can see Perona and Mihawk drinking the same wine from the same glasses, implying that Mihawk became friendly enough to share wine with his guests. Since Zoro mastered CoA I assume he went back to drinking since he likes it so much.

During Perona’s conversation with Mihawk, it appears that they cooked each other meals, with Mihawk doing the most cooking. I doubt Mihawk would just let Zoro freeload and would probably make him cook too. The fact that Mihawk and Perona were seen eating Onigiri together, which is Zoro’s signature food, implies that he introduced them to it. So yeah, I think Oda has been subtly hinting at the Kuraigana 3 having a family-like relationship.

For me it’s not about how often we see them but rather how they relate to and interact with each other. The SHP post timeskip act more like a typical pirate crew than a family, there are very few times where they’ve been shown interacting casually or in a familial way. Doesn’t help that newer additions to the crew like Brook and Franky don’t really hang out with the East Blue 5 and they don’t really have anything in common. We’ve also seen the crew split up more times than they’ve actually been together post Sabaody, which really diminishes the familial vibes we used to get preskip.

I mean at the end of the day, the truth is that Zoro has spent more time with Mihawk and Perona than his crew and Mihawk and Perona actively look out for Zoro in the papers much like a concerned family would. Perona sat in on Zoro’s training sessions, everyone shared Mihawk’s signature red wine and they took turns cooking for each other. When the hell have you seen Perona and Mihawk interacting with Zoro ?? A few panels and that's it. When do Mihawk and Zoro relate to each other more than Zoro and chopper luffy sanji robin ?

Most of it is just your headcanon. Oda doesn't show all that happens in Thousand Sunny but that's a ridiculous claim he is more familial to Mihawk because he cooked a meal

Yes the familial vibes have diminished but come on don't compare with Perona and Mihawk that's ridiculous

The question is, what's Perona to Zoro? A sister or .... :catpole:

I think Oda’s subtext paints a pretty clear picture of how the Kuraigana trio relate to each other, if you want to disagree, that’s your opinion. If I spent two years with one group instead of just a few months, cooked with them, trained with them and drank with them, I’d probably regard them as being more my family too. Is that illogical? I don’t think it is.

You know what? I don’t remember ever really seeing a meaningful one on one conversation between Zoro and any of those characters so I’m gonna go with... I think he’d relate to Mihawk most. Because I have honestly no idea what he would talk to any of the others about in a conversation lasting more than ten minutes. Also, Mihawk doesn’t tend to misinterpret things and think that a mechanic is coating Franky’s younger brother (i guess this is what happens when you get physically abused by your grandfather as a child?)

If you say so. He passed these two years there mostly to train and GO BACK with the strawhats.
His links with the Strawhats are stronger, if you deny that you're delusional

I would say his bond with Luffy is stronger than anything. Pretty much everything Zoro has done since Baratie has been for Luffy’s sake. I didn’t hear him mentioning the Straw Hats when he was desperately trying to get out to sea, I heard him speak only of Luffy. Which makes perfect sense, Zoro and Luffy have always had a special bond, but I can’t say the same about Zoro and most of the other SHP.

Im not even trolling when I say that Mihawk is probably the one that Zoro relates to most. Zoro only has two real interests - booze and swords. Who else is a liquor connoisseur and likes swords?

I expect that Zoro didn't form any relationship with Mihawk, because I still expect Zoro and Mihawk to fight it out for the title and I don't think a family-relationship is the right thing between those two.

But Perona is definitely like Zoro's sister. We can see it from how her behavior changed towards Zoro in 2 years.

Mihawk became a father/mentor figure for Zoro during 2 years, they became close no doubt but nothing changes the fact that both of them desire the same thing, to be the best swordsman in the world and nothing will prevent them from it, not even the relationship they have with each other.
Perona became close with Zoro too, something like annoying bossy older sister.

Zoro's relationship with Luffy is that of an older brother who wants to protect the younger one. The keyword in their relationship is respect, as long as Luffy is a figure Zoro can respect they are inseparable. Two different sides of the same coin.
Zoro's relationship with Chopper is similar but without the respect. Just a big bro that Chopper looks up to.
Relationship with the rest of the Strawhats is nothing special, crewmates which gives Zoro a general sense of duty to protect them.

Relationship with Ussop, Nami or Robin is nothing note-worthy. Of course, Zoro-Sanji relationship is quite strong.

But I don't think Zoro will ever be shown having stronger relationship with anyone beyond Straw Hats.
