based on the "luffy dead" panel, it's not the strawhat that's melting in the last panel, right ?
That's most likely the first use of the awakening, of the tsuku tsuku no mi ! (I think luffy's fruit don't make him rubber but give him the ability to make/create more of something. So far it was growing his skin to do some attacks but with the awakening he might be able to transform his whole body to other forms, maybe like the fruit itself in term of shape ?)

What are you talking about, Marco blocked Kizaru's first Yasakani using the same thing he did to block Kaido's Boro Breath, and even so, Kizaru's greatest shown attack vs Kaido's weakest in his weakest form while massively fatigued and injured
